The first Tweed Ride (called The Tweed Run) was held in January of 2009 and went through central London. It consisted of a group of cyclists who dressed in traditional British cycling attire, particularly tweed suits; though no dress code was required most participants tried to recreate the spirit of a bygone era. Any bicycle is acceptable on the Tweed Run, but classic vintage bicycles are encouraged.
Our goal is to bring the same spirit to Alpena. This will be a family friendly event with the goal of taking bicycling back to the day of a fun family adventure. We ask all to attempt the dress of the early 20th century, no matter what kind of bike you ride. This is not the event geared for the hard core road racer or mountain biker (though if they leave their lycra at home they are encouraged to participate) since we will travel at the speed of the slowest biker, not the fastest
